This report describes some of the cultural challenges to consider when outsourcing software development to another country. The report also covers some of the methods which can be used to reduce the risks and create better opportunities for long term success. The report gives references to research in the area and we draw from our experience of running a successful outsourcing company for more than 17 years.
Starting a dedicated team
In this report we share our experience and give some advice on what to think of when using a dedicated team in India. We focus on how to define roles and communication processes and cover some of the cultural differences and give examples as well as some explanations. The report also cover why it is hard to understand and communicate concepts over cultural borders.

Outsourcing challenges
This is a newly written report and describes the challenges to consider when outsourcing software development to India. The focus is on understanding the challenges and differences. The report is based on a framework with influence from Hofstede, Hall and Polany, but has a practical orientation. Though the foundation is based on academic perspectives, the report is well connected to practical experience from the author who have lived in India and worked with outsourcing during 18 years.
