Gislen Software was started in 1994 and has enjoyed a steady growth since. We serve an international clientele who need customized advanced software solutions for areas such as public transportation, test & measurement and productivity. Some of them are software development companies as well and others are experts in their fields who need turnkey software development for their products or businesses. In many cases we work along with our clients as their virtual software department .

Our emphasis is on Software technologies such as C#, Dot Net, AJAX, J2EE, Java, Ansi C, Visual C++ and Delphi. We also have expertise in Flex and Silverlight and a of other technologies.

Over the last years we have developed a couple of products - Planner Suite and Tellma.

We also have a tie up some other companies in Chennai and can provide professional graphical design both for the web and paper media as well as other Software Services than those we offer ourselves.

Competent Production team who assign new projects to Project Leaders and monitor project progress. Customer quality is assured through our own project and time reporting system - Planner Suite. We collect performance metrics like touch time, cycle time, defects, effort, earned value etc. Our independent QA team ensures process adherence.

Company History

1994: GSE was started as a self-financed private limited company with 3 employees. During the first year of operations, we carried out projects in areas like multi-media and animation as well as charting and graphics, our development tool was then Borland C++.

1995: We began using Delphi and by the end of the year we had 9 employees (of whom 4 were trainees).

1996: In February we started with Java and at the end of the year we had 5 programmers working full or part time in Java, 2 working with Ansi C/Visual C++, though the majority of the projects was still done in Delphi. In December we moved to a larger office. At the end of the year we were 12 employees.

1997: Further expansion, expanded the office, sales doubled from 1996.

1998: 35 employees!. We were involved in a number of critical projects including one for Telia (Swedish National Telecom Operator). We also made several investments in infrastructure such as leased line to Internet, UPS support to prevent delays due to power failures etc. We booked a second unit for our office and applied for land for future expansion. In December we officially changed the company name to Gislen Software Private Limited.

1999: Started to develop our own development process developed together with Fiona Crossling from Canada and a team from the company. We started working with ABC in Germany, developed a large Insurance system in java for the US market. Celebrated our 5th year anniversary.

2000: Implemented our development process, developed support processes, infrastructure and we are now in the process of starting our first offices abroad. We have associations with AIS Inc. in Peoria, US.

2001: Reached our sales target and implemented extensive internal software. We also employed Fiona Crossling as our Manager Operations (COO) and have with her help improved our HR/People Services as well as our Quality follow up. Although September 11 is affecting the whole Indian IT sector and we do expect lower sales than last year, we take it as a challenge to grow while others may be waiting for better times. We have been able to cut costs without laying off people or reducing salaries and have been able to stay near break even. Our overheads are lower than many of our competitors which gives us a major advantage. Some of the new clients during the year includes Tripoint Ltd, UK and CRS Marketing, Sweden.

2002: After a few month of small losses, we have been able to get back in profit and we are employing more people. We plan to launch a product for project management and open an office abroad during the second half of the year. New customers during the year are: Corporater A/S and Interaction A/S from Norway, Aros Developments Ltd, Scotland.

2003: We launched our own project management tool - Planner Suite. We also together with 5 other quality oriented software companies in South India started a consortium called Camelot Software.

2004: Had a turn around with various new projects, and business started to take off again after the downturn. Started working with Q-Free ASA. Started working with Feltons / Prosource in UK with accounting work.

2005: We are a leading subcontractor to Q-Free ASA, Norway developing a large Ticketing System for Public Administration including SmartCard, Embedded Technology,GPRS, J2EE etc. The Company is now growing fast and collaborating with various partners. We reached 5% of India's software export to Norway.

2006: Q-Free spun off Fara ASA for the public transportation work and separated the business. We continued with the project for Fara during the rest of the year. We also got a lot of other new clients. We also recruited more people. Worked with SKF Svenska AB and developed our project management tool further. Now launched under new name Planner Suite.

2007: Had a Swedish IT delegation visiting our office. Finished up the project for Fara ASA. Focus on becoming a leader in requirement collection, design, project management and quality control while using our partner network for development especially when technology differs from our core technology. A lot of new clients added. Reached 42 employees.

2008: Started a new project for SIFO. Volvofinans IT has decided to use Planner Suite. Version 2.0 of Planner Suite was released in August.

2009: Celebrated 15th Anniversary in September. Expecting 30% growth compared to last year. A lot of new customers and expansion of our offices. Have become Microsoft Gold Partners.

2010: Expanion of the office and more recruitment. Upgrading our ISO certification to ISO 9001:2008 TickIT.
